Tool Details

Simple, but nothing missing. Free tools cost nothing; Pro tools belong to the paid plan (you can still try them on Free — exports just get a watermark). The icons below are the ones in the app's toolbar.

Editable PNG Free

The headline feature. Saves as a standard PNG that displays anywhere. Reopen it in PNGkitch and every annotation is an editable object again. JPEG export available when re-editing isn't needed.

Arrow Free

A bold shaft with a solid triangular head that stays visible even over photos. Re-draw with the endpoint handles; hold Shift to snap to 45°.

Text Free

Clean sans-serif type with outline, line height, and letter spacing. Careful Japanese and Latin typography built in. Select and press Enter (or double-click) to edit. Serif and rounded/handwriting fonts, and text alignment, are Pro.

Text Box Pro

A backing box behind your text: corner radius, padding, fill, and stroke — plus a frosted glass mode that blurs whatever is behind it. Ten style presets and a RANDOM-BOX button.

Frames Free

Rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse, and straight line. Fill and stroke take separate colors — outline-only or fill-only both work.

Pen / Highlighter Free

Smooth freehand strokes that curve through your points. The highlighter uses multiply blending, so text stays readable underneath.

Numbered Badges Free

Badges 1–9 and symbols (? ! ✓ ✕), each with a pointer tail to show exactly what it refers to. Any single emoji works too — ❤️ ⭐ 😊 and the rest. Perfect for step-by-step guides.

Black / White Redaction Free

Destructively paints over the pixels themselves — the original can never be recovered from the saved file. Privacy protection is always free.

Blur / Pixelate Pro

Hide things elegantly. Adjust the strength with a live preview of the actual pixels. Just as unrecoverable as solid redaction.

Crop Free

Freeform cropping is free, and dragging the frame outside the canvas adds margin. Aspect-ratio and fixed-pixel presets (social media sizes) are Pro.

Drop Shadow Pro

Press anywhere on the XY pad and the shadow falls that way. Tune color, opacity, and blur — or just pick one of eight presets.

Align Pro

Select several objects and align left/center/right, top/middle/bottom, or distribute them evenly. Hover previews the result before you commit.

Tool Color & Size Pro

The toolbar's 35-color palette, custom color mixer, and stroke-width presets decide how the next object looks. Adjusting what you already placed (the gizmo around a selected object) is Free.

Canvas Auto-fit Free

Very small screenshots are upscaled by a whole-number factor on open, so edges stay crisp and annotations never look oversized. Draw past the edge and the canvas grows to fit. Pick white, black, or 50% gray for the added margin.

Nearly every action has a keyboard shortcut, so annotating stays quick. Shortcut list →
